Melinda Gates is an American philanthropist and former general manger at Microsoft. In 2000, she co-founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with Bill Gates. It is the world’s largest private charitable organization.
She was born in Dallas, Texas. Her father introduced her to Apple II, which encouraged her interest in computer games and BASIC programming language.
She graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University and an MBA from Duke.
After graduation, she worked at Microsoft as a marketing manager. He also worked at Expedia. She was on the board of Drugstore.com but left in 2006 to pursue philantropy projects. As of 2014, she and her husband have donated 28 billion dollars to their foundation.
